Elsie Quarterly - Q2

Jul 11 2023

Somehow I thought the end of July was the end of Q2, so now I’m rushing to get this out. I will include a few things that happened in early July, since it’s relevant!

VShojo Work

I am well into my employment at VShojo and I am having a blast. The work here is as varied and exciting as I had imagined! On top of working on product design, I am also given the opportunity to do graphic design, illustration, and motion graphics! This is without a doubt the perfect job for someone like me who thrives being involvewd in every possible creative outlet. Since then I‘ve done illustrations for Henya‘s Debut, Zentreya‘s Futuristic Debut, and Ironmouse‘s Subathon.I‘ve also been working on a bunch of other things that maybe I‘ll reveal later!

Saw The Super Mario Movie

I didn‘t get a chance to see this movie in theatres, so I bought this movie thinking it couldn‘t possibly be not worth buying.

It was absolutely worth buying. I loved it.

Etrian Odyssey HD released

I am a huge fan of the Etrian Odyssey games on the DS family of systems. It has been quite a while since a new game was released however, but earlier this year we got a Nintendo Direct that announced the Etrian Odyssey 1-3 HD Collection would be releasing and it has finally come out. I am close to finishing the first game andI can say I really enjoy this version of the game as they have added a bunch of quality of life updates to the game that didn‘t exist back when the game was first released! Now I‘m looking forward to playing 2 and 3!

Back to rkgk

Been trying to improve the consistency of my artwork, so I have been doing more quick artworks.

Anime Expo

So this is the big project I‘ve spent most of this quarter bustin my butt over! Anime Expo was July 1-4 and I was the designer in charge of all the graphics for the VShojo booth! I haven‘t done motion graphics since university, so my mind was in a mad rush to get up to speed with After Effects.

The main event of the booth was the giant three-panel video wall. We used this primarily for the meet and greets with talent that would happen at scheduled times at the booth, but we also used it to share the merch menu, socials, and the schedule!

I also designed some of the merch we sold this year, one highlight being the Penlight!

Overall it seemed like everyone enjoyed the booth! There were a bunch of learnings to take in to next year, but I had a blast at Anime Expo and would love to go again!

Enjoyed Life

Obviously Anime Expo was quite insane and took up a lot of my time, I made sure to enjoy life too!
